In order to soften the harsh walls of the Old town, Dučić donated a baroque statue of queen Helen of Anjou. She is presented graciously and with a crown on her head.
Inscriptions on the black marble table say: ‘In the honor of Helene of Anjou, Serbian queen, wife of Stefan Uroš I, mother of kings Dragutin and Milutin. To the God-loving memory of her frequent visits to her home in Trebinje.’
The statue of the queen is symbolically extending the hand with which, according to the legend, she gave presents to local people during her visits to Trebinje, where she had a court. Queen’s hand is today kept monastery Tvrdoš in Trebinje.
